PR: WBG Care Arabia event in Jordan5 June 2024

Mrs. Sawsan Wazzan, a board member at the Chamber of Beirut and Mount Lebanon and head of the Women’s Committee, participated in the IFC event held in Jordan on June 5th, 2024. She has actively contributed to yearly initiatives under the Machreq Gender Facility program, aimed at empowering women’s participation and advancement in the workplace in Lebanon. Among these initiatives are peer learning platform and Leaders for Equality, both of which have been active since the program’s inception in Lebanon in 2020. The event, inaugurated by Hela Cheikhrouhou, IFC Regional Vice President for the Middle East, Central Asia, Türkiye, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, marked the launch of the Regional World Bank Group initiative, CARE Arabia. Led by IFC and partnered with the Beirut Chamber, CARE Arabia aims to promote workplace inclusion and enhance women’s economic participation by providing access to safe and affordable childcare services.

 

This event was a significant opportunity to further highlighting the importance of inclusion and support systems in achieving gender equality and fostering sustainable economic growth in the region.
